Implant-Retained Dentures
in Albuquerque, NM

Tired of slipping dentures, sore gums and messy adhesives? Snap-in dentures clip securely onto dental implants for a stable, natural-feeling smile that stays put while you eat, talk and laugh.

A Stable, Modern Alternative to Loose Traditional Dentures

Implant-retained dentures (often called snap-in dentures or overdentures) are a modern tooth-replacement option that combines the affordability of a removable denture with the security of dental implants. Instead of relying on suction or sticky adhesive, your denture clips firmly onto two to four dental implants placed into your jawbone.

The result is a denture that feels stable, looks completely natural and lets you eat the foods you love without worrying about anything shifting. You take it out at night to clean it, and snap it back in each morning. Quick, simple, life-changing.

At Osuna Dental Care we plan every case using 3D CBCT imaging, so implant placement is precise, predictable and as comfortable as possible. If you've struggled with full dentures for years or you're missing a full arch of teeth, this could be the answer you've been looking for.

Why Patients Switch to Snap-In Dentures

Six reasons our Albuquerque patients tell us they wish they'd made the switch sooner.

Rock-Solid Stability

Your denture snaps onto implants and stays in place. No slipping during meals, no embarrassing clicks while you talk, no sudden movement that throws off a conversation.

Eat What You Want Again

Steak. Apples. Corn on the cob. Pistachios. Foods you may have given up with traditional dentures are back on the menu thanks to a much stronger bite force.

No More Adhesive Mess

Skip the daily routine of denture creams, pastes and powders. Locator attachments do the work, so your mornings are simpler and your gums stay healthier.

Preserves Your Jawbone

When teeth are missing, the underlying bone shrinks over time. Implants stimulate the bone like natural tooth roots, helping maintain your facial structure.

Looks Completely Natural

Custom-shaped, custom-shaded and crafted to match your face. Friends and family won't know unless you tell them. Most patients say it's the closest thing to having their own teeth back.

More Affordable Than Fixed Implants

Snap-in dentures use fewer implants than full-arch fixed solutions like All-on-4, making them a great middle-ground option that delivers most of the same benefits at a lower price point.

What to Expect From Start to Finish

A clear, step-by-step look at how we plan and deliver your new smile. Most patients complete treatment in 3 to 6 months.

Free Consultation & 3D Scan

You meet Dr. Graham or Dr. Kim, get a complete oral exam and we capture a 3D CBCT scan of your jaw at no cost. We discuss your goals, concerns and budget.

Custom Treatment Plan

Using your 3D scan, we map out the ideal number and position of implants for your jaw. You receive a detailed written plan and itemized quote with no surprises.

Implant Placement

Two to four titanium implants are placed gently into the jawbone using guided implant surgery for accuracy. Local anesthesia (with sedation if you'd like) keeps you comfortable.

Healing Period

Your implants need 8 to 16 weeks to fuse with your jawbone (osseointegration). You'll wear a temporary denture during this time so you're never without teeth.

Snap-In Final Denture

Once your implants are fully integrated, we attach locator caps and deliver your custom-fitted final denture. You learn how to snap it in and out, and walk out smiling.

Long-Term Care

Routine cleanings every 6 months, locator attachment swaps every 12 to 24 months and occasional re-lines keep your snap-in dentures performing for years to come.

3D CBCT Imaging Plans Every Implant

Old-school implant placement relied on flat 2D X-rays and a lot of guesswork. Today, we use cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to capture a complete 3D model of your jaw in seconds.

That means we can see the exact thickness, density and shape of your bone, plus the location of every nerve and sinus. Implant placement becomes more accurate, surgery is less invasive and recovery is faster.

Common Questions About Snap-In Dentures

Quick answers to what Albuquerque patients ask us most often. Don't see yours? Just call us.

How much do implant-retained dentures cost in Albuquerque?
Pricing varies based on how many implants you need (typically two to four per arch), the type of denture and whether you need bone grafting first. At Osuna Dental Care your free consultation includes a 3D X-ray and a transparent quote with no hidden fees. Flexible financing is available through Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit. See our full implant cost guide for ballpark ranges.
How long do implant-retained dentures last?
The dental implants themselves are designed to last a lifetime when cared for properly. The denture portion that snaps onto the implants typically lasts 5 to 10 years before it may need to be re-lined or replaced due to normal wear. The locator attachments inside the denture get replaced every 12 to 24 months as part of routine maintenance.
Are implant-retained dentures painful?
Implant placement itself is performed under local anesthesia (sedation options are available) so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Most patients report mild soreness for a few days after surgery, easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication. Once healed, snap-in dentures are far more comfortable than traditional dentures because they don't press on your gums.
How long does the entire process take?
From start to finish, treatment typically takes 3 to 6 months. This includes the consultation and 3D imaging, implant placement surgery, a healing period of 8 to 16 weeks for the implants to fuse with your jawbone (osseointegration) and the final fitting of your custom snap-in denture. Some patients qualify for same-day implant dentures with a temporary denture worn during healing.
Can I sleep with my snap-in dentures in?
We recommend removing your implant-retained denture each night to clean it and to give your gums a rest. The implants stay in your mouth permanently, but the denture should be brushed, soaked overnight and reattached in the morning. This routine helps prevent gum irritation and prolongs the life of your locator attachments.
What's the difference between implant-retained dentures and All-on-4?
Implant-retained (snap-in) dentures are removable and use 2 to 4 implants per arch. You take them out at night to clean. All-on-4 dental implants are fixed in place permanently using 4 implants per arch, and you don't remove them. Snap-in dentures are typically more affordable, while All-on-4 offers maximum stability and feels closest to natural teeth. We help you choose the right option during your free consultation.
Will my dental insurance cover this?
Coverage varies by plan. Many dental insurances cover a portion of the denture itself even when they don't cover the implants. Osuna Dental Care accepts most major insurances including Delta Dental, Aetna, MetLife, Cigna, Humana, BCBS and others. Our team verifies your benefits up front and explains exactly what's covered before treatment starts.
Am I a good candidate for implant-retained dentures?
Most adults missing a full arch of teeth (or all their teeth) are candidates. Good candidates have adequate jawbone density, healthy gums and good general health. Smokers, patients with uncontrolled diabetes or those with significant bone loss may need additional steps such as bone grafting. A 3D CBCT scan during your free consultation tells us exactly what you need.
Will my speech be affected?
Most patients adjust to speaking with their snap-in dentures within a few days to a few weeks. Because implant-retained dentures are more stable than traditional dentures, speech tends to come back faster and feel more natural. Reading aloud at home for 10 to 15 minutes a day during the first week speeds up the adjustment.
Do you serve patients outside of Albuquerque?
Yes. We regularly see patients from Rio Rancho, North Valley, Northeast Heights, Corrales, Bernalillo, Los Lunas and surrounding New Mexico communities. Our office is located at 5900 Cubero Dr NE STE B, Albuquerque, NM 87109 with easy parking and convenient appointment times.
